To Pout or not to Pout?

I hate taking pictures, and pictures hates taking with me. In fact, i think i should win the record for the most not-so-photogenic person ever... Okay i might be slightly exaggerating, but honestly why do i have to take a 100 pictures of the same pose before i can pull out one picture that i really like? It's either that i am not accepting of the fact that i look like those 99 other photos or picture taking is really not my thing...

Instruction -->

- Keep your face straight
- Poke your lips far enough to notice the 'juiciness' or plumpness of your lips.
- Raise your eyebrows up (based on preference)
- If you are very bold, while your lips is poked out, move it to the left or right depending on your choice. - - Now take a picture of it and you'll end up with a duck face, kissy face, pout whatever you might know it as.

You should generally end up looking like the first picture, not the second. If you attempted the side pout you should look like the third picture..

Every once in a while, there comes a new trend for taking pictures that I struggle to follow, giving the peace sign, sticking out one's tongue, sitting on bathroom sinks, etc. I tell myself it's stupid and if it passes fast enough, I end up not doing it. It does make me appear to be more sensible which I like, but in the comfort of my head I admire those who attempt to take the bold step, stupid or not. At other times, trends  don't pass fast enough so I find myself sucked into it eventually. I usually jump on trends when most people are leaving it.

Anyway here I am, finally sucked into the trend of pouting when taking pictures, and it was love at first pout. 'CHEEKBONES MAKES ME LOOK GREAT' i said,  when i looked at my first pout picture and ahh there it began. It gives me     something to do with my face while I'm taking a picture. I mean, how many pictures will i take in this lifetime just smiling, it does become boring you know. Just like giving the peace sign in pictures, it gives me something to do with my hands while I'm taking a picture... Wait, maybe it says something about my confidence that i don't think people will be interested in seeing a thousand and one pictures of me just smiling!

Side pout!
When a trend comes along like this, it also brings the set of people who openly chastise it. In this case, it's men. Here i am chilling oh, and all of a sudden this guy on my twitter starts going in on women for pouting and what not.All that came into my mind was, Men are ungrateful sha!

Aye, men don't understand the pain we have to go through to get a picture right and even the pretty females are no exception! As females, we have to know our good sides both face and body, angles are everything! We have to have the right makeup (I'm about to turn 21 and i'm still looking for my right shade of foundation makeup) , we have to know the particular smile to give when we want to look sexy vs when we want to look innocent, right pose because you don't want to come off as arrogant but you want to come across as confident, know how to look innocent yet with a tinge of sexiness... So please, do not make the mistake of ever thinking that taking a picture is an easy task!

The invention of the different social media does not even help these hardship, Twitter, Facebook, and INSTAGRAM...

Dear guys...  men before you go out, expressing how much you hate our pouting faces, remember that this is not an easy task, we have to get creative, think outside the box and do these crazy things and most importantly this too shall pass. Allow us exaggerate our 'selling points' a little. Shout outs to the pouting women out there, the sticking the tongue out of your mouth women, the peace signs and the new trends coming out soon. We are awesome!

P.S-> I'm not however blind to the fact that not all people take pictures to show off or look good.. and the ones that claim they take pictures "just for the sake of memory!"  Haaa I'm sure you don't want to look back into "memory" and see that you were ugly, now do you?

What do you think?

  1. BUHAHA, you're very funny. I completely agree with you, there are things that the explanation is as simple as, we just want to do something different. Men just need to get off their horses, i'm sure they do it in the privacy of their homes.
